What is included in a shutter repair kit?
Our repair kits include the replacement hardware that wears first on wood shutters: spring-loaded louver pins, clips and catches, louver and tilt rod staples, magnets and magnet catches, screws, and hinges. The exact mix depends on the kit. Each card above lists its full contents.
How do I choose between the 15lb and 25lb kit?
The weight refers to the magnet strength that holds a panel closed. The 15lb kit suits standard panels, while the 25lb kit is built for larger or heavier panels that need more hold. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your shutters and we will tell you which one fits.
Can plantation shutters be repaired?
Yes. Most wood plantation shutters can be repaired when the issue is hardware or an individual louver rather than the panel itself. Structural frame damage or a warped panel may require panel replacement, which is when an in-home repair visit makes more sense than a kit.
Are these repair kits only for Elizabeth Shutters?
The kits are designed for Elizabeth Shutters whole basswood shutters and match the profiles and tolerances we have built since 1981. Many components are compatible with other solid wood plantation shutters, but fit outside our product line is not guaranteed. The kits are not designed for composite, vinyl, or MDF shutters.
What if a kit does not solve the problem?
If the issue is structural, such as a split frame or a warped panel, or if several shutters have failed across the home, a kit will not correct it. Our in-home repair team services solid wood shutters of any brand throughout California and Nevada. Send a photo and we will diagnose it before scheduling.
