  • Family-Owned Since 1981
  • 100% Whole Basswood
  • In-House Nevada Installation
  • Lifetime Limited Warranty

Custom shutters for Las Vegas homes need to do two jobs at once: fit the opening precisely and survive the desert. Elizabeth Shutters builds made-to-measure plantation shutters from whole basswood, kiln-dried for dry climates and finished to withstand heat and UV, then installs them with our own Nevada team. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation, is measured to the actual opening, and is backed by a lifetime warranty from the company that built it.

The Desert Is the Design Constraint

Las Vegas Is Hard on Window Treatments. Build for It.

A west-facing window in Las Vegas takes more punishment in one summer than most windows take in five years elsewhere. Triple-digit heat for months. UV intense enough to fade flooring through glass. Air dry enough to pull moisture out of any material not prepared for it.

That environment is exactly where cheap window treatments fail first. Vinyl warps in sustained window heat. Composite and MDF products drift out of tolerance as dry cycling works on their cores. Fabric treatments fade and hold heat against the glass.

Wood shutters, built correctly, are the treatment that thrives here. Whole basswood is kiln-dried to the correct moisture content for dry climates, and a closed shutter is a physical barrier that slows heat transfer at the window. The effect is most noticeable exactly where Las Vegas homes need it: the west-facing rooms that push heat into the house every afternoon.

The Material Difference

100% Whole Basswood. Not Vinyl. Not Composite. Not Finger-Jointed.

Most shutter companies serving Las Vegas sell one of two things: a synthetic product marketed on heat resistance, or a wood product marketed as solid basswood that is actually finger-jointed, meaning small pieces glued together. Both choices show their limits over time. Synthetics are heavier, limited in color, and generally cannot be repaired or stained. Glue-joint materials can develop separations under sustained heat cycling.

Whole basswood is a single continuous piece of wood with no joints. It machines to the tightest tolerances in the category, which means the smallest light gaps, and in Las Vegas light gaps are not a cosmetic issue. It takes paint or stain in any color. And it can be adjusted and repaired for the life of the home. This is the material we have built with exclusively since 1981. The full comparison is in our whole basswood vs solid basswood guide.

  • Kiln-dried for dry desert climates, holds its geometry through seasonal cycling
  • Premium acrylic finishes, lead-free and formaldehyde-free
  • Painted or stained in any color, matched to your trim in your own light
  • Repairable at the component level: louver pins, tilt rods, hinges, tension

Made-to-Measure, Manufacturer Direct

The Company That Measures Your Home Builds the Product

Most shutter companies are dealers. They sell panels manufactured somewhere else and subcontract the installation, and when something needs attention years later, accountability has three places to hide. Elizabeth Shutters is the manufacturer. A design consultant measures every opening in your home, the panels are built to those exact measurements in our Colton, California workshop, and our own Nevada installation team hangs them. One company, start to finish, since 1981.

Made-to-measure matters more in Las Vegas than the brochures admit. Newer master-planned homes in Summerlin and Henderson carry big window walls and sliding glass doors that off-the-shelf sizing never fits cleanly. Older Las Vegas neighborhoods have settled openings that are rarely square. Every panel we build is cut to the measured opening, which is why the finished installation reads as architecture instead of an accessory.

Accountability, In Writing

A Lifetime Warranty Means More From the Company That Built It

Every Elizabeth shutter carries a limited lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship, backed by the manufacturer, not a dealer relaying claims to a factory. Because the product is whole basswood, it can actually be serviced: worn louver pins, tilt rods, hinges, and tension issues are repairs, not replacements. Ask any shutter company who services the warranty and who built the product. If those answers are two different companies, that tells you something before you sign anything.

Straight Answers

Questions Las Vegas Homeowners Ask

What are the best custom shutters for Las Vegas homes?

Whole basswood shutters are the strongest choice for Las Vegas. Kiln-dried for dry climates, they hold their shape through desert heat cycling, block UV at the window, and can be repaired over the life of the home. Synthetic and composite products are heavier, limited in finish options, and generally cannot be serviced at the component level.

Do plantation shutters help with heat in Las Vegas?

Yes. A closed wood shutter is a physical barrier that slows heat transfer at the glass, and the effect is most noticeable on west-facing windows during summer afternoons. Wood insulates more steadily than blinds, shades, or fabric treatments in high sun-load rooms.

How much do custom shutters cost in Las Vegas?

Pricing depends on window count, sizes, louver size, finish, and configuration, so the accurate number comes from a professional measure of your actual openings. Elizabeth Shutters offers a free in-home consultation in the Las Vegas valley that includes measurement and a written quote. 12-month same-as-cash financing is available on qualifying projects.

Who installs the shutters?

Our own employees. Elizabeth Shutters never subcontracts installation. The team that installs in Las Vegas, Henderson, and Summerlin works for the same company that built the panels in our Colton, California workshop, which keeps accountability in one place for the life of the product.

How long does a custom shutter project take in Las Vegas?

Most projects complete within 4 to 6 weeks from design approval to installation. The free in-home consultation is where the timeline starts: a designer measures every opening, reviews finish options in your light, and builds the quote from the real openings.

How do I choose between shutter companies in Las Vegas?

Ask what the material specifically is: whole basswood, finger-jointed, hardwood, vinyl, or composite. Ask who manufactures the panels and who installs them. Ask who services the warranty. Companies with clear, specific answers are the ones comfortable being compared. If the answers are vague, that is your answer.

Do you also build custom closet doors in Las Vegas?

Yes. Sliding bypass, bifold, and hinged closet doors are built in the same California workshop to the same standard as our shutters, on premium ball-bearing hardware, with one-day installation by our own Nevada team.
